Passionate Worship [John 4:24]
The Heart of Worship is Surrender Worship is an act of gratitude to God. When life seems dull and without purpose, worship stirs our spirit, broadens our perspective of life, challenges our complacency, and renews our passion for the kingdom of God. Worship is not about style, music, or tradition, but about surrender. In a culture that encourages us to put ourselves at the center, worship reorients us our priorities, calling us to live with God at the center of it all. It is in worship that we properly view the purpose and potential of our lives in the light of God's love. At First Church, worship is a come-as-you-are celebration! This means that some come in jeans, while others prefer in suits, but all come to give themselves to God. Some experience God's Presence with a contemporary flare, others with a more traditional, reverent feel. But all are united in a community saved by grace. We worship because ... ... without it I can forget that I have a Big God beside me and live with anxiety. ... without it I can forget his calling and begin to create and worship lesser gods ... without it I lose a sense of wonder and gratitude and plod through life with blinders on. ... my natural tendency is toward self-centeredness that destroys my relationships with others. "Worship the LORD with reverence...and rejoice with trembling." (Psalm 2: 11) Worship Services
Empowering Prayer
We believe that prayer brings the power of God to bear on the situations that touch our hearts and move our spirits. We know and have experience the power of prayer in our own lives and are passionate about seeing the supernatural power of God unleashed in the lives of other, our church, and our world. When we pray we open ourselves to God's Spirit and enter into a deeper relationship with Him. "The LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion." [Isaiah 30:18] Our prayer team is available 24/7 to pray for you and for those on your heart. We invite you to go deeper in your prayer life and experience for yourself the power of God that still moves mountains. "Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God." "Prayer is a silent surrendering of everything to God." Soren Kierkegaard
