Leap Ahead Learning Center Video WE LOVE GOD'S KIDS! Our children's ministries works very hard to create opportunities for youngsters from infant through 6th grade to experience God's grace in their own special ways. Excellence in children's ministries is the heartbeat of our church. We believe all kids deserve the chance to get to know who Jesus is and how each child is special to Him. We also believe that excellent children's programs are critical to wholistic family ministries. For many families, children's ministries are the entry point to life in the church. At FUMC our children's ministries start with Sunday School, but extend to much more. Vacation Bible School, special seasonal events and programs, and our Leap Ahead Learning Center, are just some of the ways we reach out to kids and their families.
MISSION The mission of children's ministry is to work with parents and the church family to lay a biblical foundation upon which children can build their lives in Christ. The children's ministry includes children from birth through sixth grade. During these most formative years, we are committed to helping children grow in three critical areas: 1. Relationship with God 2. Relationship with His Word 3. Relationship with one another We trust the foundation laid during these formative years will prepare them for the teen years ahead and eventually for a lifetime journey with God. SAFE SANCTUARY POLICY First United Methodist Church is committed to providing a safe environment for our children to grow and peace of mind to our parents. The church adheres to rigorous safety and accountability standards to ensure that no child is in danger of abuse or neglect. As a precious gift entrusted to our care, we want to be good stewards of your trust and confidence. All teachers are screened. BUSY BEE NURSERY (birth to Pre-K) The Nursery Department provides a safe and nurturing environment for children during the worship service and other church related events. This allows parents to be actively involved in worship and various areas of ministry confident their children are safe. On Sunday morning the crawlers and walkers have structured table time for the children. Contact: Marina Webb, Loretta Constable, Abbie Gedon, Linda Riddle SPROUTS (Pre-K to 1st grade) Our Preschool ministry provides classes for 3- and 4-year-olds during Sunday morning. Games and crafts are geared to learning basic faith formation concepts. Classes are also provided for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade children in a structured combination of both quiet and active times. Learning the Bible based curriculum teaches truths from God's word in age appropriate ways and encourages hands-on activities. Contact: Cindy Bush & Katelin Gedon JAMS (Jesus and Me): 1st through 3rd grades JAMS are focused on teaching biblical truth through loving relationships. Our goal is to keep a positive and encouraging environment that will allow the children to learn truths that will give them a firm foundation in God's Word. Contact: Kianna Anderson & Linette Gedon LIVE WIRES: 5th & 6th Grades This class is designed to prepare children for the upcoming teen years by looking at what the Bible says about the many real issues preteens will face as they become teenagers on the path to adulthood. The class is an expedition by a company of young explorers (preadolescents) led by their guides (experienced teachers) who build on personal relationships to invite kids to find their relationship with God in the context of community and service. The new land is virtually unexplored by others; we must find the way safely to our destination with the "map" (God's word) that has been passed down to us.
